Hypnotic Pain Management
By Alan B. Densky, CH
The old adage "no pain, no gain" simply isn't
true. Think of all of the times pain has kept you from
engaging in activities that you enjoy—perhaps playing
tennis, running, fishing and even sitting can be impossible
when you're in pain. Have you gained anything from missing
out on memories?
However, the saying that "Pain is all in your
head" can, in fact, be true. If that is the case, then
the cure is all in your head, too. With hypnosis, pain can
completely disappear. Despite what you may believe, hypnosis
is simply a deep state of relaxation where messages can
reach the unconscious mind more easily. In fact, with
regular practice of a self hypnosis pain elimination
regimen, you will find yourself much more tranquil over all.
Pain is a signal that something is wrong. So
pain is actually a good thing. But once you have your
physician check you out to make sure that the pain isn't
signaling a dangerous condition like a tumor, its time to
manage or even eliminate the pain.
There is no danger in a self hypnosis pain relief
program. You can not "get stuck" in a hypnotic
state. The worst that could possibly happen when you use
hypnosis for pain management is that you might fall into a
natural state of sleep for 20 or 30 minutes—think of all
of the times that pain has prevented
you from sleeping!
This is not to say that a hypnosis pain management system
is the same as sleep, which is the biggest misconception
about hypnosis. If you are asleep, you are unconscious.
If you are not conscious, then you can't hear anything. If
you cannot hear anything, then a hypnotist can't help you.
Hypnosis is actually a state of keen awareness.
Even though you are consciously aware of everything,
hypnosis pain management programs can address both physical
and mental causes and introduce many effective avenues to
eliminate pain. Medications only block the reception of the
physical feeling of pain on a temporary basis, but hypnosis
pain regimens can actually decrease the amount and strength
of pain signals that you perceive. You can literally
reprogram your body to send less pain-inducing chemicals to
your receptors. This means that you can use fewer
pain-killing drugs, or in many cases no drugs at all.
Endorphins are opiate like chemicals that are
manufactured in the brain. They are the chemicals that
cause athletes to get a high when they workout very hard.
Using hypnotherapy, you can also learn how to program your
brain create pain-relieving endorphins on demand and then
send them to the painful part of your body where they are
Because of endorphins, the brain is capable of inducing
analgesia, which is a light anesthesia, as well as full
anesthesia (numbness). Medical journals are full of accounts
both in pre-anesthesia days, as well as in modern times,
when major surgery has been done under hypnoanesthesia.
Hypnosis can also be used to program the mind to direct
your attention away from pain, and that will make you
perceive much less discomfort. Additionally, hypnosis
pain management programs can help our mind know and
understand that the pain is there, but not to let us feel
it. A qualified hypnosis pain relief professional will
know how to completely address other hypnotic suggestions
that will aid in your recovery.
A highly effective hypnosis
pain remedy comes from Neuro-Linguistic Programming, or
NLP. No doubt that after living with chronic pain, you may
skeptical that a self hypnosis pain program will work. In
many cases, NLP techniques actually work far better for
modern thinkers than traditional hypnosis does because it
was developed for people like you who are taught to question
and analyze everything. When you to analyze you tend to
throw up barriers to the acceptance of post-hypnotic
of stress always make us perceive far more pain than we
are actually experiencing. One of the most powerful NLP
patterns for eliminating stress is known as the
"Flash." This technique reprograms the unconscious mind to use
thoughts that create stress to actually trigger thoughts
that create feelings of relaxation instead. After you've
used this technique, it will be difficult or impossible to
think the thoughts that upset you, because your unconscious
will instantly and automatically exchange them in a Flash
for thoughts that relax you instead.
Hypnosis and pain relief go hand in hand. If you're tired of coping with medications that leave you incapable of driving or fully experiencing life, or worse, of living with the stabbing, shooting or throbbing pulsations of discomfort, a hypnosis pain elimination program can provide safe, natural and instantaneous relief.
